My name is Anna Schmidt, and I will be your (or your child's) teacher for the year! I earned my Bachelor's degree in Classics from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2013, and I will complete a Master's degree in Secondary Education from the same university in 2014. I love Latin - it's an amazing language, and the culture and history of the Romans is just fascinating. I hope to share some of my love of the Classics with my students.
If you're wondering about the title of this blog, "Carpe Disciplinam" is a play on "carpe diem," which is usually translated as "seize the day." (The phrase comes from an ode by Horace, a famous Roman poet.) "Carpe disciplinam" means "enjoy learning" or "collect knowledge," and that's just what I hope my students will do.
